Looking for Albert Barnett 1823-1900

Hello;

Just joined the site and was excited to see so many people searching the Barnett clan.  It's been very helpful in my search.  But...one person seems to be elusive and that is my 3rd gg, Albert Barnett born in Spotsylvannia, VA in 1823 and died in Kirksville, MO in 1900.  He married Sarah Elliott and had two children, James Thomas Barnett and Harrietta Barnett.  He was in the Missouri Malitia and before that he went to California for the Gold Rush.  I did notice that Ambrose Barnett was in

I am DESPERATELY searching for information on my great, great grandfather...major brickwall. I have been beating my brains out over this man for over 10 years! The only information I have is this:

GenealogyWise.com I have used for several years now. I never see anyone writing about the great advantages of using GenealogyWise.com for posting for a surname or for attending a chat.

Chats  many time have leaders that present classes. I have done this in the past myself. At one time I was very proficient with Pennsylvania Research, Maryland Research and Virginia Research.

Having done classes for almost 10 years for the Golden Gate Forum owned by George F., it helped me to learn  more and the  mo

Preserving my Past

This is my first blog post, so please bear with me. I've been digging up both my husband's and my own family history since about 1985, but blogging is new to me. I hope to use this blog to help me organize and clarify my discoveries...I tend to be a bit ADD in my research, I set a goal to focus on and inevitably find myself side-tracked, digging into an entirely different person or branch than I had intended!

Since I am currently typing this (PAINSTAKINGLY) on an on-screen keyboard, I'll keep thi

Facebook and Finding Kin

Facebook and Finding Kin

I have been busy with family and more family and more family. Now is that great or what.  We have had  Iowa Visit.

A daughter visited her home state of Hawaii.  Northern California came to visit family.  Dear friends from Colorado.

O how my husband and and I miss them.  Prayers for their family, their child needs prayers for survival back to normal.

I knew this person since infant.

Yesterday I was chatting with a friend and found out they are distant kin with Root, Roote,

Mary Carlile Haines ancestry

Mary Carlile Haines ancestry is documented in the article titled A Tale of Two Tradition:  The Huguenot Ancestry of a Quaker Family  printed in Plain Language, The Journal of the National Society Descendants of Early Quakers (printed about 1998) and written by Marilyn L. Winton Misch, MLS.  The article is six pages and includes her ancestors back to 1600. We had at the State Library Of Ohio an exceptional librarian who copied these issues and that is where I found the article.  It now belongs to

Have  you heard of Mapme.com?  You may want to try it.  You can map and tell a family story all in one.

I am working on making it work.

Maps are really critical keys in our research. I think I picked  up the information about it from Dick Eastman.

But other things have happened and I did not get it posted right away.

But it should be a lot of fun for most of you all.
