Mary McNally 1812-1883

My 3rd great grandmother on my mother’s side.

Mary, called Mamie, was born on Feb 19, 1812 in Leixpix, County Kildare, Ireland to Will McNally c. 1785 and Margaret Mary Kelly c. 1785. She and her husband, John C. Tyrrell Immigrated in 1848 with their children.

Stories From The Genealogist: John C Tyrrell.

John was born in Ireland, probably Kildare due to his parents, Patrick and Jane both living there. He marries Mary McNally on Jul 1, 1833 Maynooth, County Kildare, Ireland. They immigrated to America in 1848. John and his wife, Mary lived in Paterson, New Jersey. John served as a Union Soldier in the American Civil War April 12, 1861 – May 26, 1865.

My tree is more of a wreath.  Everyone is related to someone else in some way, even as my husband and I are 9th cousins once removed.  In that spirit, today I present a story from my tree that connects my French Canadian paternal side with my English maternal ancestry in Wells, Maine (US). What can colonial passports tell us about our ancestors in the colonies? The details can be overwhelming and miles of travel completed on these trips are fascinating. Most would travel in groups, but many small parties traveled from South Carolina to the Natchez located in the Mississippi territory during the 18th century.

June Classes Start Tomorrow!

June classes start tomorrow! What are you studying this month? Our Canadian Records Certificate includes courses on the Canadian Census at both the Basic and Intermediate levels as well as a course on Canadian Archival Centres. Since LAC has just released the 1931 Canadian Census this might be a good time to brush up on your census reading skills and learn about local, provincial and federal archives!

Mystery Lady

This is a post card it was found among my Grandmothers Old family Pictures. I will attempt to add a picture of the writing on the back. I find the writing on the  illegible. The writing with Ellen and a ? is mine. My best guess is Aunt Ellen or Allen. My Grandmother Lydia's maiden name was Hover she was born in Candor, NY in 1895 she lived in Candor until abt 1921 moved to Newark Vall
