Group Admins needed

When GenealogyWise first came into being, those of us who joined early were encouraged to create groups to provide a place for people to come and find "their space".  Many of us created groups by the surnames we were actively working on and then places, occupations, events, etc. I never dreamed we would be the Admins for all the groups we created. 8-0

If anyone is a member of a group created by me and you want to take over that group, please let me know. I am spread very thin these days with gran

New Finds via Face Book Secrect Group

Quick up date, we have started sharing some information now in the FB group and one of our family members has a few documents that I did not have that she scanned and posted there. Now I can take those and blow them up and print them out for hard copies. Since they are marriage, death and birth records this is kind of major scoring. So taking the FB challenge to another level paid off for our research in this since. Sharing the information though digital images might not be as fun for some as c

Using Face Book

Not only have I been able to find missing family members that our family have never met on Face Book but I have also set up a hidden group on FB for those of us doing research to be able to sharing information on our research, pass information on what we are working on and coordinating. research task. My 2-Cents on Using GenealogyWise

I have noticed several people who have their profiles set to private or their comments moderated. This is always a bit amusing to me because it sort of defeats one of the greatest tools and advantages of joining GenealogyWise and that is the ability to make connections and thereby expand your research or break down a brick wall.

On general sites such as My Space or Facebook (both of which I am a member), I certainly understand setting your profile to private, however on GW, where everyone here is

How I Get the Most Out of GW

There are so many groups now and that is a good thing, but as I stated in my previous blog, you just can not check out every one of them.If I were new to GenealogyWise, after I set up my page with the surnames I am researching, etc, I would go to the groups main page. Then I would start researching all the surnames on my list. You will see in the results, not only the group which is about that surname, but the other groups where a comment has been left about that surname.I would also search the

Group Management on Genealogy Wise

Forget the fact that the number of groups on Genealogy Wise expands daily, which has been overwhelming for some (side note: Genealogy Wise is working on group categories to make the groups more accessible), what about those of us who are beginning to get overwhelmed by the amount of groups we have joined and created. I currently am a member of 67 groups. Of those 67 groups I created 36 of them. Most of the groups I created are surname groups, which the exception of the Daughters of the American
