Not only have I been able to find missing family members that our family have never met on Face Book but I have also set up a hidden group on FB for those of us doing research to be able to sharing information on our research, pass information on what we are working on and coordinating. research task. It not only connects all the family researchers together but it also helps us get an idea of who has what files, where to go for information and a host of other issues and interesting with the project. It is a great ideal for getting your family on a project or on getting those working on stuff together in a way that they can all add to information etc in a way that will help make your work a LOT easier.
You would want to go to Create Group link on the Left side of your Home page. Here is the link Create Group.... Once you have created the group there should be a link in the upper right hand of the page after the Blue section with a button to edit group. On that page the second button should say Privacy. You can change that to Secret and then invite in the people you want to add to the group. The post will show up on your Home page but only you and the members of that group can see those.
David ...I've used FaceBook to locate previously unknown cousins too. Lately I've posted some of my research and commentary on documents from my gg grandmother's Civil War Widow's Pension file as an ongoing scrapbook. Your idea about a hidden group is interesting, though. How would I go about doing that?
