Uncanny Events, Non explained Situations for Genealogists and Family Historians.

Having just read about a very real situation that may draw more tourist to a historic place of residence, I saw Yes do it.

We learn history better by experiencing it than just reading. So if we watch and see and hear an event acted out, our brain will remember it better.

Funny how we as genealogists tend to accept things more than others do when it come to the unusual event,

or paranormal experience.  Hank Jones calls

2012 World Storytelling Day – March 20

Who are we? Besides living organisms, we are a story, the details (sub-stories) are connected to other people’s stories and they are part of community stories, family stories, national stories…. you get where I’m going here.

I have always seen life from the perspective that there are the facts of what happened, and what we make those facts mean. The sum of those two things are our stories. They make up who we are, how we see the world, how others come to know us, and what we think of as important

Looking for those elusive Winborne's

I would be very grateful for any info on William Winborne (alias William Wen) and his spouse Elizabeth Wen.

They came to MA in early 1600's from England, moved around some and finally settled in Boston where their son was born in 1635 and he (John) later attended Harvard-then preached in Manchester for a couple of years.

Thanks, Bob

Me. Early Years. Part One

I was born Stephen Brooks Winter. 1956 in New Orleans, Louisiana. At the Southern Baptist Hospital. I came home to 5343? Chestnut Street, 1st house on the left when you turn East off of Jefferson avenue. A two story duplex. I remember the phone number started with TW9 (TWin-brook-9).
How did I end up being born in New Orleans. My daddy (William Brooks Winter) and mother (Melba Joyce Langston) both are from Calhoun County in North East Mississippi. My brother (Michael Ray Winter) was born with a l

Beginning Research - Your Opinion Needed

Beginning Research and finding some interesting thoughts have come to mind.

I am not the youngster just starting, with a computer and laptop and I phone.
I learned the solid way of paper and pencil and letters and calls. Research trips to libraries, visits to family members homes.

Yes, we still do all of these things but today we have the added concepts of I Phones, I Pads, computers, not to even  mention the Internet.

So if you were to do a Beginners Class

I have been working on what I refer to as a long-format video biography. My client has hired me for a year to develop a personal history as well as to film significant events during the year. We’ve been doing this since November 2011 and so far we’ve shot four different events. A couple of the events, we’ve turned into short individual videos to send out to people who attended while other footage is waiting to fit into its bigger scope.

Sunday I was at my client’s Super Bowl party, filming family
