Franklin was born 26 June 1860 Greene Co. PA and died June  1940 in Wheatland , Wyoming was carried back by train to Iowa for burial next to his wife. Mom was expecting me and she could not go. It broke her heart.

13559126654?profile=originalI was just looking back over some old research and I came across a record of my grandfather from WWI.In the record it stated he had been charged with "leaving his post",this was while he was in hospital in England after been wounded in the Battle of the Somme.He was gone for 2 hrs,unfortunately it doesn't say where he went but my thoughts are he slipped out of the hospital for a pint! Anyone else with a similar funny story please let me know.

I was watching some news coverage of Hurricane Sandy a few days ago and there was a woman standing on the site of what was once her home, holding a battered and soggy wedding photo of her parents.
