Both were born in Allegany County, PA. After all of their children were born, they moved to Tama County, Iowa. There the women and children stayed while Carson along with his four sons, Samuel, William, James and Charles went to the gold fields of what is now Colorado. They later returned for the women and children, loaded up their belongings and settled north of Boulder Colorado. Our family lived there until 1944 when they moved into Boulder, CO.
