I found this document on the SC Low Country Website. The first paragraph mentions Thomas Baxter, A Free Negro living in Sumter SC. That person may be a relative as my paternal Baxter line comes from SC. The man mentioned on this document is a Free Negro, and lives in not far from where my Baxter ancestors lived.I look forward to comments on this document.
