maternal great grandmother Mary Bell Graves Strawn (1865-1937)--midwife in Columbia, MissouriMary was the daughter of a dark slave mother Emily Graves (1845-1913) and an unknown white man. Mary was said to have cooked delicious corn bread and gravy.
