Ironically each time I try to add the link to this information. The page changes to the link page.

The meeting is from 12 noon until 2 p.m. in the Chula Vista Civic Center Library Auditorium (365 F Street in downtown Chula Vista).

The program description and Margaret's CV include:

"This program concerns names and their variations. Genealogists often disregard valid information for an ancestor because of the way a given name or surname is spelled. Surnames were spelled by literate record takers prim

There are a number of aspects to the way theinformation is maintained and presented that distinguish this singledatabase from any previous attempt at a compilation of familyinform

Chronicling America Website, part 2

Four John Dominises-

Governor John Owen Dominis was the son of Captain John Dominis, the sea captain who brought his Boston born wife, Mary Lambert Jones, and son to Hawaii in 1837. They had left behind two young daughters to be educated in Schenectady, New York. J. O. Dominis never saw his sisters again. Both little girls died in New York at around age 12. Life in Hawaii would be very different from life in Boston for this branch of the family!

Little John arrived in Hawaii at age five, and died

Most of us have them. If we could explain them or even get rid of them, we would have greater success in our family tree research.

Unexplained gaps can be the reason for your family tree's brick wall. There are many kinds of gaps to look for. Some gaps can be explained, others cannot. If left unpursued, we may never uncover the "full truth" about the family. Below are some examples.

I know it isn't his original quote, but Val D. Greenwood says, "A good cookbook does not make a good cook." (Greenwood, Val D. The Researcher's Guide to American Genealogy.Baltimore, MD: Genealogical Pub. Co, 2000). Neither does goodgenealogical instruction guarantee adequate research competency. But itwon't hurt either. A good cook can use a good cookbook to advantage tomake some marvelous dishes and a good researcher can use additionalinstruction anytime to become even better at doing research

According to fellow genealogy blogger, Randy Seaver, “Genealogy Research is like a box of chocolates- you never know what you’re going to find….” Well, Randy, not only do I like your quote, but I like the Library of Congress “Chronicling America” website you wrote about last month.

At the Chronicling America search page, you can find newspapers from 1880 to 1922 from only the following states: Arizona, California, District of Columbia, Florida, Hawaii, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New
