Why to Begin

Since I was a little kid I would always ask my grandmother about her family and how things were "in the old days" She told me so much information but I was a kid and cannot remember everything she told me. So, a few years ago I decided that I would try and find out some more information for myself. WOW, who knew there was so much information out there. You can get information about family and places from everywhere; internet, family, library, newspapers.I have boxes and boxes and notebooks at my house full of information that I have not been able to get into the computer yet. It will take me years but that is ok. It will take me longer then that because I continually look for new information and people to talk to.I really like the stories. That is one of the reasons I wish grandma was still alive. Now I would get all of our conversations of what life was like on the farm or of WWII on videotape.genealogy is a great way to find out where you came from and what you are really made of.

  • I enjoyed reading this blog entry. I am looking forward and completely excited to be starting my own research of my family history and heritage and cannot wait to pass this information along to my 3 children. It will be a great gift to them when they are older and I hope they will continue on where I leave off and pass this along from generation to generation.
