Spencer Family in MO

I'm looking for information about my gr gr grandfather Nathaniel Spencer, b. 1821 in KY, d.1864 in Phelps County MO. 43 years of age.

He married Esther Moon in Crawford county MO (now Phelps co) in 1846. They had nine children: The fourth was my gr grandfather Jacob E.Spencer b.1853 in Phelps Co. MO. (about whom I have much information)

The 1850 MO census shows Nathaniel as living in Rolla MO and states that he was born in KY in 1821.

I'm trying to find Nathaniels father who was from KY.

    I read the post and was interested in letting you know that the SPENCER and MOON name generate from eastern NY from Rhode Island, Mass area. I have relatives of both names married into my JONES this is one huge big family if the group would work together if yours come from them. My Jones line ended up in IOWA so
    lt would not surprise me to find you in Renselaer Co NY or Hampshire Mass or Bennington VT area at all or Greenwich RI.
