Hello....I am looking for any info on the Oakes and Snowden families.My gggrandfathers were Edward Littlefield Oakes and Adam Diffenbaugh Snowden.The Oakes family came from Cambridge, MA, through Maine (Penobscot), Wisconsin, Oklahoma (Mangum), Texas (El Paso), Illinois (Chicago), and Indiana (Indianapolis).The Snowden family came from PA, through Missouri, Colorado (New Grenada), Okalahoma (El Reno), then back into Missouri (Mountain Grove).I have some info on both of these families but have hit some gaps and brickwalls. If anyone out there has any info please let know. We can compare our notes to see if there is a match!David
For your Snowden ancesters who were in Indiana, you might try broadening your search, as there are lots of Snowdens in the Morgan County area, just south of Indianapolis, (which of course, is Marion County). They are not related to my family, but I have met many of them from the area.
