The GenealogyWise Chat Room serves two purposes, one is to provide a place for members to network, ask questions, receive and give genealogical help. GW Member Dawn says of the Chat Room, “The people in the Chat Room are always willing and able to help you. We pool our resources and work together on helping people find that elusive ancestor and we have fun doing it too!”The second purpose of the Chat Room is to provide educational, scheduled chats where members can learn about different topics from our Chat Hosts. You can find the chat schedule under the ‘Chat’ link on the GenealogyWise homepage. We ask that during schedule chats, that members not post comments until after the conclusion of the chat. The GenealogyWise Chat Room can be accessed two ways. One is by clicking on the gray bar at the bottom of your screen, when you are signed into GenealogyWise. You can also access the room by clicking on the ‘Chat’ link at the top toolbar on GenealogyWise. You can also chat one to one, privately with a member by finding their profile picture on the right hand side of the Chat Room. Click on their name and then click on ‘Private Chat.’ This is a good option in cases where someone is helping you with some research and you don’t want to give out private information in the public Chat Room.Whether you chat publicly with other members, attend a scheduled chat or chat privately with a genealogy friend, the GenealogyWise Chat Room is there to help you network and stay informed.
I am stuck on my Paul family, in Pa. I have John Paul born in 1760 in (town not known) Pa. and later serving in the 3rd Cont. Line. And still later in Missouri (1799) where he died. I also find him married to Martha, no last name, no place, in 1780. But, no birthplace, no parents' names. Stuck, stuck, really stuck.
Help please: I have one family member, a grandfather that all I can get is his marriage and death information on. I show him once with his immediate family on the federal US Census. I have tried Ancestry, Google, RootsWeb and FamilySearch. I have tried searching local boards in Kentucky with no success. I have traced his wife's family (my grandmother) but cannot find a parent to him. Any suggestions? I am still a bit new to this.
thank :)
Good Morning All, Please can someone advise. Is this site for individual family trees, or is this site a single family tree, with members adding their connections, to make one huge tree, which shows our connections worldwide to one another, ie one large family tree? I am new to all this. If this is one large family tree, then sometime down the track, is it possible for members to access from the website, hard copies in book form, at a cost of course, relating to whatever part of the one family tree that they wish. Technology is amazing these days, and I believe nothing is impossible. Ie, I would search a gg parent as far back as I can go and if a name pops up, then I can join my branch to that current information. I hope I am not sounding too eccentric! I believe this would save so many people so much research time. As we are all aiming for the one goal, does anyone think this would cause problems? Cheers MM:)
Is Chat Room and Blog the same?? How can I get involved with it? How can I respond to something in one of them and be answered? I have tried and tried this morning to respond to James Turner's article in the blog about attending genealogical conferences. So far, it's like hitting a brick wall. My first response seems not to of been posted anywhere. And I haven't been able to reach Mr. Turner. His article is very important to me. Do I JOIN a blog? If so, how do I do that? I already belong to a number of GW groups. Do I join a Chat Room?
