As you know, I've been pretty excited to install Microsoft's new operating system, Windows 7. It was released today. Early this morning I checked out different software store's websites to see if they had any great specials. To my surprise, many of the stores said the software was already out of stock. I've been using it for a couple of weeks. Advantage of being in IT. I even managed to get Quickbooks 2002 to install.
I did a clean install as my notebook needed a birthday any way. I just backed it up using Acronis and restored it to a virtual machine on my server so I could still get at all my old stuff until my Windows 7 install was complete. I'm probably half way through. Got all the necessary stuff, and just got some of the less important stuff to go.
The news that you have to re-install your various programmes is not good news - especialy where programs are of the download type - ie where there is no software.
