Getting Started - Again

Wow - I went looking for a marriage certificate I had received from the state of Michigan, and haven't found it yet. I've read occasionally about "the box" - I have "the drawer". It's the top drawer of my little file cabinet (the bottom is full of financial records, medical stuff for me and my pet, etc.). I have been just dumping everything in there for about a year now. It's definitely time to go through it and get it organized.I started looking through the papers and found things I'd forgotten about, leads I hadn't finished following, and worthless rabbit trails that consumed a lot of time (and trees). Another thing I've read: never throw anything away. I think I need to break that one in the case of one "line" that I am now fully convinced was erroneous. One day I'll find out where my Cox line came from, but for now I have enough information to dispute the claim made by a cousin (who isn't a Cox) that they tie in to the Samuel Cox that married Nancy Woolfolk. So, I have lots of papers to shred, and a nice book to resell or give away.I have so much "going on" right now with research, it's hard to make time for organization. But I know that I need to do it. The ironic thing is that organization has always been my strength and source of pride in the work environment.
