Some people hate change. I often get excited by it. For instance, I haven't found a reason to complain about the recent changes on Ancestry.com. So far, I love them.I have a LOT of people in my tree that need to be "pruned out" - they were there because I accepted on faith, with no documentation, someone's belief about who an ancestor's parents were. I did a great deal of research about that family, and found out a lot of information - some of which no one else seemed to have found (or at least was willing to make available). But the more I found, the more I came to the realization that it just didn't add up. My ancestor didn't belong in this family. There was only the flimsiest of circumstantial evidence to make a connection, but there were a lot of compelling reasons to discount that connection. And I never could find one bit of documentation to prove the initial claim. On the other hand, I found records putting my ancestor in a place and time where the rest of the family never was. That sealed the deal for me.Now, once you've added a lot of people to your tree in Ancestry.com, it can be a real PITA to go back and delete them. I've long thought that there should be a way to do it from the list. I even made such a suggestion on several of the feedback forms I completed. Now, just hours ago, I discovered that such a thing has become reality. Wowzer! I've been dragging my heels to go through and weed out all of those mistakenly-grafted branches. Now I can do it while I watch "House" reruns and it'll go a lot faster. It's the little things that make me happy.
Cindy, if you go to the List of All People, there is now a small icon next to each name that wasn't there before - it's the same one that appears next to family members on the Person view/Overview. If you click it, it expands to show options. The one that looks like a pencil is the edit feature - click it and it opens an edit window that includes the trashcan icon for Delete this person. Click and done - on to next. Works great if you know you need to delete everyone with a certain last name - but you have to be sure!
