This was the home of John Bates (1748-1834) and Chloe Fuller, my 5th great-grandparents. John built this home when he migrated to Dudley from Cohasset, Massachusetts, where he was born. The home remained in the family for at least two more generations, until my g-g-grandfather Allen Bates took his family to Tracy, Minnesota in 1875. Actually, the home may still be in use by Bates descendants today. There are Bateses still living on Bates Road in Dudley.
