In Memory of Jim Avery

It is with great sadness that we post this notice that Jim Avery passed away this last weekend. Jim Avery was an important part of the GenealogyWise community. His contributions to his educational chats and helping others via the Chat Room will be greatly missed.

Occasionally, GenealogyWise has been the target of spammers.  These spammers get past the tools that Ning gives us and then proceeds to send inappropriate messages to members.  In order to combat spam we had previously made it so all blog posts need to be approved.  That has helped to stop spammers sending messages via blog posts.  But we needed to do something that would stop them from sending messages to community members.

So we have now changed the way new people can become members of Genealog

Spammer on GenealogyWise

In the last two days we have repeatedly had a spammer named Joy send messages to the members of GenealogyWise.  We have removed her from the website on both days and added features to the sign up process to try to stop spammers.  However, sometimes spammers still get on the site.

 Kelli Davis Underhill Honored as Our 4th GenealogyWise Angel

GenealogyWise has given our 4th GenealogyWise Angel Award to "Kelli Davis Underhill". If you have not met Kelli yet you probably have not been on any of the Texas groups, N.C. groups, or even some Indiana groups.
